JM

So for my art hype project I did four different things.

1.  My first approach was to create small unique artist trading cards/business cards. On one side one of my characters was posted on it on the other side there was my name along with a website where they could see my art. I did a xerox transfer of my character it was kind of light so on most I had to go over them with ink. I added a xerox transfer of my name which was spelled backwards to give it a design feel to it  To make them pop I added a splash of color with bright green and blue paint. I tried to make each one very original. I placed them all around the school taping them to the wall in hope people would take them and check out my website.
2. I also did a pop up gallery of some of my best work in one of the main hallways.
3. I created stickers with my name and website. I scanned some of my cards added my name and website to the front. printed them out on sticker printing paper, and cut them out. I distributed them to friends and throughout the school. Many of my friends kindly wore my art stickers throughout the school advertising for me.
4. I asked friends to post up some of my art on their websites to ask people to check it out.
5. I went to my local public library and placed some of my stickers in between the pages of some art books, comic books, and some of my favorite books as a sort of bookmarks. Hopefully some one will find it and check out my stuff.

I received many comments from friends and faculty. Someone from my bus who I don't know, actually came up to me and complimented me on my gallery display. People really seemed to like my stickers. They asked for more than one and for some reason they like the ones that seemed to be "throwing up", they are suppose to be drooling but hey... whatever I don't mind.

These three littered the hallways with paper airplanes containing thier information - free for the taking... or throwing

SG also put up balloons with her information on them

MS left balloons around the school with her flickr link on them- this random student in the last photo definitely seems like a balloon kind of guy :)

(Program): I designed and created the program for the musical Phantom of the Opera. My art was displayed and in the hands of hundreds of people. This picture shows my creation in one's hand.

(Audience): This picture is part of the sold-out audience of the Friday night show. This news was very exciting because that meant many people would be viewing my art. Since everyone had to wait at least 30 minutes before the show, it gave them time to look through it and enjoy it. Also, the program is a keepsake to the families of the cast so they can remember them being apart of it forever, which means they are keeping my art.

In addition to the program, I designed the poster and t-shirt that promoted the show. Since the cast knew I created everything, I gave all the members this handout to check out the rest of my works on flickr.  And luckily, some of my friends took it to the next step.

Friends): Some of my friends from the play made copies of my art hype flyer, in the shape of posters, bookmarks, etc. and went to the local grocery store promoting my work with their  t-shirts on and my flyers. Since they didn't have permission to leave the posters behind, we just took "promotional pictures" and handed out a few to some customers.

In the end, I am glad hundreds of people were able to view my art. I am very proud of what I created, and whether the people kept the program or not, they still viewed it. This opportunity also gave me good experience towards my future and hopefully more people will check out my works on flickr.
